    Hi!

I’m having some fresh installation problems.

    My environment:

    iis7
    php 5.3.2
    mysql server 5.5.3-m3-community
    mysql client 5.0.7-091210-$Revision:294543$
    pdo_mysql - enabled
    windows vista prof x32
    Permissions - OK
    FF 3.0
    IE8
    Revo Version 2.0.0-rc2

All configurations up to the point of installation are fine.
    1) I selected ’New Installation’;
    2) Entered the connection information and "Connecting to mysql server: Success!" and I get thess messages:
    Installation Summary

Pre-installation tests were successful. Click Install below to continue.

*Checking PHP for zlib dependency: OK!
    *Checking for SimpleXML: OK!
*Checking PHP version: OK! Running: 5.3.2
*Checking MySQL server version: OK! Running: 5.5.3-m3-community

*Checking if core/config/config.inc.php exists and is writable: OK!

However I then get this message when I click ’Install’:

Errors were encountered during core installation. Please review the installation results below, correct the problems and proceed as directed.

I click back and I get

There "should" be a file in core/cache/logs/ named install.{timestamp} that contains any PHP errors that occurred. See if that exists...

Thank you for the tip OpenGeek.
There are a series of install.{timestamp} logs in this directory. All of them contain just one line, which reads:

"[2010-06-21 17:10:01] (FATAL) Could not load core MODx configuration!"

Then there’s the ’error.log’ file which contains predominantly SQL syntax errors.

Can i create the tables manually?

Where do I find the database creation script?

        Cheers!

Can you attach your error.log or post a few examples here?

No; the tables are created from a schema definition by the xPDO O/R code. There are currently no manual SQL scripts available for this purpose.

Sure, here’s a sample of the error.log file.

Every little help I can get is appreciated.
May I say that I’m a newbie with Modx, but I read such good things about it that I just had to check it out.

            Thank you for your time.

I have no idea. That syntax is perfectly valid in MySQL 5.0.x and 5.1.x. I know nothing about the more recent MySQL releases TBH, and I don’t think they are very commonly used yet. We will eventually support them, but it’s not on the priority list atm if it doesn’t just work as is.

If anyone can identify what the incompatibility is in the SQL syntax, please enter a bug in our JIRA application and we’ll get it fixed.

                More questions:

So should I therefore down-grade my MySQL server version?
Which has been the most ideal version for Revo 2.0.0 rc2?
Is MSSQL Server an option at all?

Don’t know the extent of this, but as I launched the install I also noticed that CGI/FastCGI stops working as well.

Sounds like you have other environment issues then, and this may not be related to MySQL at all. I’m not versed at all in IIS, so I’ll have to defer to those knowledgeable to diagnose what would cause the PHP CGI to stop working.
