    Hi,

I was wondering out loud -- ok maybe just mumbling to myself-- if anyone has a successful Modx install running on a Webhost4life.com IIS windows host? Preferably a revo install at that ;o)~

Im about to give installation a whirl there, but I’m a bit concerned as WH4L has possibly the most incompetent, slow, and unapologetically bad customer and tech service I have seen in 30+ years recently -- this since they where bought out 6 months ago or so. Prior, they were quite good.

If anything is wrong with server settings, or I need real tech help on their end, Im basically on my own and up the proverbial creek w/o a paddle on this....

...so just wondering if anyone has an actual successful install to boost my hopes a bit.

    Dave

      Hi Dave,

Thanks for the lighting reply and offer, Aaron.

Quick question: Do you have any installs of modx on OneSmartHost running on IIS v6? If so, are you using ISAPI or fastcgi underneath your php install?

        tnx,
        D

          Hi Dave,

No problem, yes we have lots of MODx installs 1.0.3 and revolution running fine on IIS6.

We run PHP v5 FastCGI with ISAPI Rewrite for friendly URL’s.

          Hope that helps

One more quickie if I may ask, Aaron ----

What minor version of PHP5 did you get successfully running with fastcgi on IIS6, and what major/minor version of mysql?

Im currently having a bear of a time lining up versions of revo rc2, php, mysql, pdo, dbg, just to play nice and run happily on my dev box.

            -----------------------
            OS: win srvr 2003 sp2 x64, IIS6 (IIS running 32 bit mode, not 64)

            fastcgi: v1.5 installed from WPI

            PHP: 5.2.13 nts x86 (32bit) vc6, installed from WPI

            Mysql: v5.1.41 community
            mysql Client API version 5.0.51a
mysqli Client API library version 5.0.51a
mysqli Client API header version 5.0.51a
PDO Driver for MySQL,client lib vers 5.0.51a

            modx: v2.0 rc2

            DBG: v3.8.10
            -------------------------------------

Currently modx won’t install with a mysql api client at 5.0.51a (known pdo issues for xpdo). However 5.0.51a comes inside the php 5.2.13 nts package...

..so Im currently struggling to figure out how to upgrade the mysql client beyond v5.0.51a w/o having to upgrade php version to 5.3.x. Any thoughts? Ideas? Workarounds?

            thanks so much.

Problem solved for getting Modx revo 2.0 rc2 installed on IIS.

              Thanks to Aaron.

you must install a php version of 5.2.5 on IIS to avoid the dreaded ’mysql client 5.0.51’ modx problem as described here:
              http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/MySQL+5.0.51+Issues

If you install 5.2.x above 5.2.5, revo may not install for you.
