    Hello Peeps,

Bit of background.... Been using modx for a while now and just saw the Evolution Release (Congrats to all who managed to make this possible!!!)

Now as a result i wanted to do a clean install to see what we are getting, as well as start demoing modx as the choice of CMS for my current place of work (Religious Institution Unnamed). But i get the following error when installing:

    Cannot open file (../assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php)

I have looked at such topics as:
    http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=37116.0

But cant seem to find a solution.

I am using MySQL 5.01 Community Edition, On IIS7 with the URL Rewrite module installed but not currently active on the site. The Directory that holds the modx files has read/write/execute permissions for Everyone (just a debugging measure).

Any ideas? I have had 0.9.6 and Up installing fine on the same system and its starting to bug me....

    Cheers in Advance laugh

    Al

Sounds like you just need to change the permissions on your cache directory and the files themselves. Some servers require 777/666, some require 775/664, and others 755/644.

Have you previously had another version of MODx running? Are you running the installer in a non-English language?

I think Ryan missed that your using IIS... Take another look at this post: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,37116.0.html

If you tried everything you might want to respond to it and see if they might have some additional ideas. As I understand it the traditional permission Ryan is suggesting don’t work for IIS. I could be wrong tho...

Cheers for the move, and i thought it was a permissions issue but will post on the end of the other topic and see what comes about. Edit: The other topic is locked, any ideas?

I am using the English Language version and all the permissions are globally accessible.

I’m having the exact same issue with IIS 6.0. If anyone has any ideas for a fix it would be greatly appreciated.

I fixed it in IIS6. You have to give user IUSER_YourMachineName write permission before your install. If your modx folder had this error already, you have to remove folder and redeploy it in IIS And Reboot. Modx on IIS required lots of reboots.
