    HI:
    1. I installed WAMP server 2.0 on my machine. i.e localhost
    2. on my hard drive: c:/WAMP/bin....there is the following directories - Apache, Mysql, Php.....

My question is: WHERE do I put MOD-X and HOW do I install/load/or setup Mod-x to run?

Can I just copy Mod-x folder to a particular location Or must I FTP the files.

Note: I click WAMP server qwik launch icon and: 1. I start all services. 2. I click on "localhost" and get to - http://localhost/ 3. I’m able to run phpmyadmin.

    Thank you....

I use XAMPP and the standard web root is /htdocs, I think for WAMP, it’s /www but I’m not sure. It’s configurable in the Apache httpd.cnf file.

Copying files is fine, no need to FTP them.

Try putting your own index.html file with <p>Hello World</p> in it in the www directory and see if it comes up when you enter http://localhost/index.html. If not, you may need http:localhost/www/index.html (or a change to the httpd.cnf file).

You’ll definitely want to make sure you know where things go before copying any MODx files there.

I do know that many people prefer XAMPP, but I’m not sure why.

I use Wampserver. Copy the files to your wamp/www folder. Best process is to first create your project folder, e.g. wamp/www/mymodxsite, then copy all the files and folders from the modx install folder into the mymodxsite folder.

Then navigate to htt://localhost/mymodxsite and you should be able to start the install.

        Hope this helps.

          DB host = localhost

I do not have a login name or password....

You may need to create the database using PhpMyAdmin and create a user for it with full rights. Then use localhost, the DB name, and that user’s username/pwd on p2 of the install.
