    Hi

I have decided to give MODx a try, but I’m having a bit of trouble getting it installed. I am running the following...

    Windows XP Pro SP3
    IIS 5.1
    MySQL 5.0
    PHP 5.2.5

PHP and MySQL are all working fine.
I have tried the Install method from Aaron Wardle initially (www.Onesmarthost.co.uk) , but when I get to the section "Step 2: Running the MODx install" I get the following message...

MODx is not currently installed or the configuration file cannot be found. Do you want to install now?

If I click on Install Now, it goes into a perpetual look, looking for ......./language.php

Can anyone tell me how I can get MODx installed? Or at least past this error?

    Thanks
    Terry

It sounds as though your sessions path is not set correctly in php.ini or that IIS does not have modify permissions to the sessions folder.

          Hi Aaron

The session.save_path = is set to "C:\program files\php\temp". This folder exists, but currently is empty.
I’m not sure about IIS being able to write to this folder.
When the install process goes into this loop, I can just make out what it’s trying to do. The address line is...

          "Waiting for http://localhost/install/index.php?action=language"

Does that give anyone more clues?

          Regards
          Terry

            Hi

It’s all working now, and installed properly. The only thing I changed was the fix mentioned in "MODx 0.9.6.3 after install --> Config file still writable" on this forum, just underneath this post actually.

After I made the changes mentioned there, it just started by itself.

Now all I have to do is try and remember my login details.

            Thanks all
            Terry
