I installed everything fine, database got connected fine, it did the config.inc.php file fine, and then I go to /manager/ and those warning comes up.
I’m doing this for a client, so this is kind of urgent, I have no idea what the problem is, because despite line numbers there are a LOT on include files in their PHP, so I’m really stuck.
I grepWin’d the whole modX folder, and there’s no such text in any file of C:/ at ALL, really stuck?

    Anyone got any help?

    EDIT:
Really sorry! I just found a post (like 2 posts down from mine >.<) explaining how to solve this problem.
I did do a general search before posting this, but I was searching ’errors’ and the post was titled ’problems’, or something. Really sorry, I know no-one likes duplicate posts, I’ll edit again if it works or not.

    EDIT2:
Well... I’m a little stuck again because whenever I choose on my FTP to make a file writable and stuff, it says... "command not understood" :-/

interesting how the path slasahes are different in each error some \ and some /

Could you let me know more about the server setup? also have you tried re uploading the MODx install in case it was corrupted or did not complete correctly

        Yep, I tried re-uploading twice.
Also, just a few minutes ago I did the exact same thing for another guy, but I think I’ve figured out the problem anyway, it’s just a matter of solving it.

The problem is that the files need to be made to writable files, but when I try and change the permissions, I’m not given access to do so, I imagine my FTP user doesn’t have the privs to do so.

I’ve emailed the server-people, telling them to do something about it, so we just have to actually hope it’s them that’s the problem...

Does it sound like I’ve deduced this correctly?

yes it could be a matter of permissions what is the setup of the server? I assume because you have posted in the IIS forum it is running through Microsoft IIS if this is the case the NT user on the server either websitename_user or isur_servername needs to have modify rights to the entire website and sub folders.

I’m not, no - I’m just doing it FTP via FileZilla...
This is in the completely wrong forum-bit then, huh? undecided
Sorry ’bout that, I got told in an email it sounded like a Windows/IIS problem - I just figured... y’know tongue

            Sorry

if you are on iis then permissions cannot be set in ftp.

Check with your hosting provider to see what platform windows or linux you are on along with php version and let us know.

With more info we should be able to get you up and running.

Okay... I found out that the server <b>does</b> use IIS (I do much prefer choosing my own servers :-/)
I’m just going through IIS now and changing the permissions.

I’ll let you know if I come into any other issues.. rolleyes Thanks

                  Meh sad

Well guys, all the httpdocs are writeable, but nada.

Called up the server guys, and they said apparently the script is trying to load...

                  /manager/media/styles/login.html

                  Which doesn’t exist ¬_¬

I’m going to try to reinstall once more, but any ideas while I do?

                  EDIT:
                  It worked!! laugh

Cool glad you got it sorted, it must have been a bad upload if some files were missing.
