    We are using IIS and ModX with the Helicon Redirect. ModX is working fine for the bulk of our site. However, we have two legacy asp apps that are themselves redirectors. When those apps were moved over to the new site, we created exceptions for them in the Helicon tool and established a separate app pool in IIS for the main website separate from our other sites (we have a few other sites that are involved with the back end of our products on the same server). The error that we are getting is odd, given that we set up an app pool for the site already:

    Server Error in ’/’ Application.

    Configuration Error
    Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

    Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition=’MachineToApplication’ beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

    Source Error:

    Line 45: by Microsoft that offers a single logon and core profile services for member sites.
    Line 46: -->
    Line 47: <authentication mode="Windows" />
    Line 48:

    Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:1.1.4322.2407; ASP.NET Version:1.1.4322.2407 redirect

    We are trying to figure out how it might think that there is no virtual directory or if it is an authentications problem or if it is something else altogether. It is an unusual situation that is proving difficult to track down. If any one has any insight as to where we’ve gone wrong it would be very helpful.

      We just found the problem. One web.config file for 2 asp apps, so once we adjusted that it worked and we are in the clear.
