Hello,
I have a local windows server 2003 for development purposes and lately I’ve been having an unusual annoying problem with the Manager.
After I log in, the home page (Site=>Home) stalls when loading and it shows only the upper menu section (the document tree and welcome page won’t be shown). See attached image #1. I didn’t know what was causing the problem because the site had been working fine for several months until now.
Then I remembered that I recently changed the DNS addresses on the server. I’m referring to the addresses located inside the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties for the local area connection (see attached image #2). What I did was simply delete the previous DNS addresses (those were resolving) and replaced them with a new temporal DNS address (it is important to note that this address is an IP that cannot be reached). After those changes the problem started to show. When I detected the problem, I switched back to the old DNS addresses and the problem dissapeared!.
I don’t know but it just doesn’t make sense to me. Why the manager stops working when the server uses a DNS address that cannot be reached?
Please any clues or hints will be greatly appreciated. This problem has been driving me a lil’ nuts the last few days.
Mc

Are you able to ping the server / website address by hostname direct on the server?
When the manager loads it loads the RSS feeds for security updates etc. If it can’t do this because it cant see the RSS server it will hang on loading and give different results for different platforms, it does however hang some how. It does the same if you are behind a proxy, there’s a JIRA ticket raised for this. Try clearing the RSS feed URL’s in the configuration settings, this should stop the feeds loading and let you in.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!
