    Hi guys,

Our server is running MS Windows 2003 Server with IIS6(ASP, .Net1.1 and .Net2.0, Coldfusion, PHP).

We host multiple domains and I would like to know what is the best solution to have FURL for our modx websites.

From what I read here are the solutions:
    - IIS Rewrite
    - http://www.isapirewrite.com/

PS: Is there a solution that does not require access to the server? Something that can be done from within modx?

    Thank You

We use ISAPI Rewrite which is extremly good.

This is enabled on all our customer domains by default and when they wish to use rewriite rules all they need to do is upload a .htaccess file with the rules in to wwwroot.

Once the initial modx rule has been added there generally is no need for any further edits of the rewrite rule file.

        Thx Aron,

I think that this is the best solution so far: ISAPI Rewrite
Are you using Version 3 or 2?

We was using v2 but have recently upgraded to v3 which seems to be much better mainly because the .htaccess files can work on linux or windows as its based on the mod_rewrite module for apache.

            Hi Aaron,

Just tested the ISAPI Rewrite solution with modx and it seems I have a problem.

The links look fine but when I click on them I get the home page(which is somehow correct because that is the default page when a page is not found)

            .htacess file has: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ staging/modx/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
This is correct also because if I change something in the path I get "No input file specified"

            Any ideas?

xpix, here’s the start of my .htaccess file on one of Aaron’s IIS Isapi 3 Rewrite servers :
              RewriteEngine On
              RewriteCompatibility2 On
              RepeatLimit 32
              RewriteBase
              # unsupported directive: [ISAPI_Rewrite]

              # 3600 = 1 hour
              # CacheClockRate 3600

              # Block external access to the httpd.ini and httpd.parse.errors files
              RewriteRule ^/httpd(?:\.ini|\.parse\.errors).*$ / [NC,F,O]
              # Block external access to the Helper ISAPI Extension
              RewriteRule ^.*\.isrwhlp$ / [NC,F,O]

              # RewriteEngine On
              # RewriteCond Method GET|HEAD
              RewriteRule ^/(?!(?:manager|assets)/)(.*)\.html(?:\?(.*))?$ /index.php?q=$1?2&$2: [NC,L,U]

              RewriteCond %{HTTP:Host} ^mydomain.co.uk$
              RewriteRule (.*) http://www.mydomain.co.uk$1 [NC,R=301]
              RewriteRule ^(.*)/index.html$ http://www.mydomain.co.uk/ [NC,R=301]

Hope that helps or until Aaron sees this!
