This is my second day into trying to get MODx 961p2 to install.
Hosting is on IIS6 servers with PHP 4.x support and current MySQL
First few installs failed so I cleaned out the MySQL tables and ran a fresh installs. Says install worked but only getting white screens from <siteroot>/index.php
Second few installs I just ran the update. Got same results.
====================================================
Turned debugging to see what was happening and it is showing this:
« MODx Parse Error »
MODx encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:
« PHP Parse Error »
PHP error debug
Error: Undefined variable: charset

File: <siteroot>\manager\includes\extenders\dbapi.mysql.class.inc.php
Line: 85
Line 85 source: $charset = $charset ? $charset : $this->config[’charset’];
Parser timing
MySQL: 0.0000 s (0 Requests)
PHP: 0.0334 s

Error while inserting event log into database.

charset comes from $database_connection_charset in config.inc.php and is loaded up by the
DBAPI function in dbapi.mysql.class.inc.php
Any ideas what to try next???
Thanks!
I have no answer to your problem, I don’t know IIS at all, but I moved it into the appropriate forum this should help
Maybe read How To Guide: Installing PHP 5.2.1, MYSQL 5 and MODx on Windows IIS, thought it’s for PHP5 there might be something in there...

PHP 4.x is a wide latitude of versions potentially, some of which might not work at all. Please see the "help us help you" link in my signature for specific details of what’s needed. (moving this to the Windows/IIS topic)

Here is what I did -
1. Removed all tables from MySQL
2. Ran Fresh Install
3. Actually got a clean install at this point
4. Unchecked the "Remove Install Folder" because of past paranoia
5. Ran into permission problems when attempting to run the Manager tool when PHP "Unlink" tried to delete certain files.
6. Renamed the install folder so the PHP logic cound not find it and try to delete it.
7. Modified permissions in "cache" folder to Read/Write
To Do
1. Figure out the tightest possible permission settings that still allow the site to function.
2. Experiment, experiment, experiment.
Once I get this figured out, I’ll try post a checklist type document for IIS type installs.
