The only suggestion I have is to make sure that the mysql module is enabled in php.

        Hi all!

I am having the same problem with my install.

I am trying to install Modx on a Windows IIS server with the newest version of Mysql, and PHP5 and Modx.

Unfortunately I don’t have DIRECT access to the server that I am trying to install on as it is my brother-in-laws hosting company’s server.

Anyways, I get to the page where you input the database information, and after putting in localhost and username and password, I try the "Test Connection" button. It then takes me to another blank page, with nothing on it except the Modx header and some styling on the page, and the version number "MODx version 0.9.6.1".

If I ignore this and input my admin information, as well as the database info, and press submit I get the next page that asks which modules I want installed. I then press INSTALL and the following page shows the following information:

        Pre-install validation
Setup has carried out a number of checks to see if everything’s ready to start the setup.
        Checking PHP version: OK!
Checking if sessions are properly configured: OK!
Checking if assets/cache directory exists: OK!
Checking if assets/cache directory is writable: OK!
Checking if assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php file is writable: OK!
Checking if assets/cache/sitePublishing.idx.php file is writable: OK!

Checking if assets/images directory is writable: OK!
Checking if assets/export directory exists: OK!
Checking if assets/export directory is writable: OK!
Checking if manager/includes/config.inc.php exists and is writable: OK!
        Creating connection to the database:

And that is where it seems to freeze. There is nothing after that.

So I am guessing it is not connecting to the database - but I have no idea why as my host has confirmed that I DO have an account on mysql, and he has checked the credentials. He can log into Mysql just fine - it is running.

I tried installing Modx on my local computer (Mac Intel OSX 10.5) - but got several errors in the install Validation. I am still working on trying to get this going so I can test it.

Any ideas on what might be the problem?

I have sent my bro-in-law the sticky document on installing Modx on IIS or windows environment, I am hoping there is some nugget of info in there that will help him get this thing working, but failing that - I NEED HELP! smiley

        Thank you!

I have successfully installed Modx on my MAC Osx Laptop for TESTING purposes only. So I have seen what a successful install looks like, and I know that my files are not corrupted. The connection to the database is definitely not working properly.

I STILL need to install it on the server using IIS, and we still haven’t gotten to the root of the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

          Thanks!

              Hello,
I am having the same database connection issue described above

              Windows 2003 SBS
              IIS6
              Mysql 5.0.51b
              MODX 0.9.6.1

Went through the install and at the DB connection page I, input the database information, and after putting in localhost and username and password, I try the "Test Connection" button. It then takes me to another blank page,
with nothing on it except the Modx header and some styling on the page (with green and black bars), and the version number "MODx version 0.9.6.1".

Added the DB manually and created a new user in MYSQL with all permissions and get the point of

              Creating connection to the database:

              Just sits there.

I am new to this and followed everything in the instructions.
One other item on this server is it also has SQL 2005 as part of SBS and Blackberry Enterprise server.
Not sure if that could be conflicting in any way

              Any ideas?
              Thanks in advance!
