I downloaded modx-2.0.3-pl.zip and extracted it to my wwwroot folder hosted by IIS 5.1 on XP. However when I browse to the setup folder containing the extracted Modx files the installation doesn’t start. What happens is that the browser tries to download OSvrgYUT.part

        Any help?

I’m not sure if it will successfully run on IIS that old. Do other PHP/MySQL applications run on that server? Revo requires a modern stack including PHP 5.2 and above.

Should I try an older version of Modx? I think that IIS 5.1 is the best I can get on xp, but if you know of a later version that I can use let me know.

            Thanks!

I managed to use Microsoft Web Platform Installer, which says it successfully installed Modx with IIS 7.0 extensions and MYSQL 5.1 However when I point my browser to localhost/modx it (Firefox) tries to download a file, and IE just displays the contents of the index.php file.

              Any more help?

It sounds like it’s not configured to run PHP at all.

Yes it ends up you were correct. I thought that the Microsoft Web Platform Installer had actually installed php, but apparently I was mistaken. Once I copied over the unzipped php files I had to go into IIS and manually add the .php extension and driver.

Now I actually get the Modx installation page! On to database configuration...Thanks for the help.
