I’m having trouble making the SMTP connection work properly. I’m using MODx .9.5 on Windows Server. I know that the SMTP can work on this server because I have another PHP software program, Mantis, working just fine using SMTP on the same server.
Specifically, when I try to update a password for a web user, and when I set it to send the password via email, I get this error message:
Warning: mail() [function.mail]: SMTP server response: 530 5.7.0 No AUTH command has been given. in C:\wamp\www\manager\processors\save_web_user.processor.php on line 430
And the password update fails.
I looked in manager/includes/class.phpmailer and set the variables as I thought they should be set, but still no luck. Here’s how I have the variables set (with "fakedomain.com" substituted for my real smtp domain):
var $Priority = 3;
var $CharSet = "iso-8859-1";
var $ContentType = "text/plain";
var $Encoding = "8bit";
var $ErrorInfo = "";
var $From = "

var $FromName = "My name";
var $Sender = "

//var $Sendmail = "/usr/sbin/sendmail"; //commented out
