I’ve got a client who wants their site installed on Hostgator. Does anyone with experience doing a manual install of Evo have any recollection of Hostgator-specific issues to keep in mind? I’m specifically trying to figure out if anything needs to be done to get email working (from a contact form, for example).
I’ve ftp’d an unpacked version of Evo 1.0.3 and it looks like the file and folder permissions are fine (644/755). And register globals and magic quotes are off by default. A tweak to the main php.ini file set the timezone correctly and since it’s on a temporary URL, the .htaccess file needed to be tweaked.
While I have the email address for the administrator set up as a valid email address from their cpanel, I’m still not receiving emails. My hunch is that it’s a temporary URL/domain name mismatch issue. That part I can handle. What I’m trying to avoid is overlooking something else. Nothing shows up in a search of the MODx forums. And the only thing I get from searching their forums is the sense that a lot of people get confused about email contact forms

. But, still, no threads about MODx+Hostgator issues. Maybe there aren’t any ...
Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated. Most of my experience has been with Bluehost and so far the install steps seem to be the same.
Thanks in advance,
Matt
