    Hi everybody!

I wonder, is there a free hosting that I can use with MODx Revo? I’ve tested a few, but installation fails every time for different reasons. Some have outdated version of MySQL, some have PDO driver disabled, and so on. So, the question is - has anyone succeed in MODx Revo installation with a free hosting plan? If yes, what hosting did you use? Links much appreciated.

Kind of an old topic, but keeps popping up in Google searches...

FreeBeeHosting can run Modx Revolution. It’s the only one so far I’ve gotten Revo to work with (tried a few). http://www.freebeehosting.com/

The downside is that server 7 (the same server you are destined to) is down every weekend for no apparent reason. I haven’t yet woken up on a Saturday morning and be able to access my site. You can’t maintain a site professionally: fits mainly for testing etc. purposes. Whining aside Revo works very well when the server is up.

(note: On the forums people are experiencing downtime during weekdays as well.)

I am curios why would someone with a business keep his site on free-hosting solution.
There are really good solutions with less than 5 dollars per month. Is that too much for some business?

          Just asking smiley

Yeah, for trial and fun is Ok, for a business is very risky.
Imagine how packed are their servers...

            This from their website:
Important note: Unfortunately if you currently have a free hosting we cannot offer an automated upgrade to paid hosting. Paid hosting is on different / better servers. If you want to upgrade to paid hosting you will have to order a paid hosting package and contact us to migrate your website across.

At least go with the 2 bucks a month... with them... it gives you better hardware...
