I’ve tried to install 1.0.3 several times on Earthlink (client’s existing host, not my choice). Tech Support reviewed the requirements and they verified they can run MODx. I have stepped through the install and it passes all tests. The installation proceeds until it hits the "Modules" line on the last page of the install. It jut stops. No error, nothing.

Trying to bypass the installer, I then deleted the entire installation, reuploaded all the files and imported a database from another install. I try to access the site and I get a blank page. No html at all, just a white page.

    Thoughts?

Try installing without installing any of the optional items (snippets, modules etc). Or just uncheck the modules one by one to see which one is locking it up. Could be a modSecurity problem with the code in one of the modules.

I will give that a try, thanks.

One thing I tried while waiting was to reupload everything again. Now the page displays this error:

        ERROR: Too many forward attempts!
The request could not be completed due to too many unsuccessful forward attempts.

When I view the /manager, it loads, but with no CSS.

        OK - Something new.

I hit the "Save" link on the config page and then the manager rendered correctly. Weird. I’ll post results as the plot thickens...

Too many forward attempts usually means that your home page (which is the default error page) is unpublished or unfindable or there is a permission problem.

The other problems sound like an issue with your browser cache or cookies. Try clearing them.

So it is now working (barely) - the issue I have surmised is Earthlink. They are using PHP 5.0.5 which does not support some key extensions I need (namely GD) and the php_mbstring extension is also required which prevents the AjaxSearch from working.

Looks like Earthlink is a no go for MODx at this point.

Thanks for everyone’s help, it’s much appreciated!
