I’m trying to manually install MODx on a Network Solutions server. The install says that everything is successful. They did have register globals turned on, but I was able to fix that with php.ini, then re-ran the install and got no errors at all.

When I try to login to the Manager, I get a 403 Access Denied error. I’ve checked the permissions and gone through them with their hosting support - problem does not seem to be related to permissions settings.

On the front end, I get a blank page. I’ve read that blank pages can be due to not publishing your pages, but this is a fresh install and I requested the sample site be loaded, so it shouldn’t be blank. I haven’t even accessed the manager yet to add or edit any pages.

Any ideas would be much appreciated!!

    Thanks.

I honestly think you’re going to have endless struggles with NetSol’s servers. I’m not aware of anyone that has it working there without a tremendous amount of effort, if at all.

After reading through the other posts about troublesome hosts, that’s what I was afraid of. My client says he’s already paid for years in advance or something... I’ll try to convince him to switch. I usually recommend Bluehost and have had great luck with them.

Thanks for getting back to me.

          The solution?
Trigger NetSol’s reputation management folks @netsolcares.
Get bumped up to 3rd level tech support.
          Have them fix it.

They’ve got modx installed and working, from what I can tell (haven’t tested too much yet, but I’ve got the demo site on there w/ Ditto functions, etc.). I’ll check with them to find out what they did and post for others. Good news b/c I have another client’s project I haven’t started yet who uses NetSol as well.
