That’s because I removed that; it’s going to become a TV (or rather a selection of TVs to add for different payment methods).
When I’m happy with the functionality, I’ll go downstairs and fire up the Windows box (and maybe it’ll see the Internet and maybe it won’t; let’s hope it’s in a good mood!) and fix the CSS for IE/Windows.
Never mind, I was just returning to the shop to try again and there it was :

It worked : I don’t know why I was returned to the homepage and didn’t see the article added at first... cache issue ?
FYI I am using FF 1.5.
I’ll try again to add something and see if it does the same thing with FF, then try IE and Opera if it "fails" again...

That’s odd...I add items, it adds it and sends me to the page I just created. Browser issue? I’m using FF 1.0.7 for OS X 10.3.9 Works in Camino and Safari as well.

Could be a cache issue. I notice that our friend NewsPublisher seems to automatically make its documents cached, and I hadn’t set the DropMenu snippet tag to the non-caching form! That’s been changed.

What a job! I finally gave up trying to determine if POST was set or if SESSION was set and created a plugin that automatically loads the SESSION if the POST is set (specifying the values I want, and only if the forms’ submit buttons are also returned, not just any old POST values!)
A few false starts and typos, and now I’ve got a payment method selection block working. They don’t do anything yet, but at least you can choose them! And easily enough add more through adding the TVs. What the TVs do is up to whoever creates them (PayPal, etc). They can link to another page, add a form to the regular checkout page, whatever your heart desires! All the info you need is in the SESSION, SESSION[’orders’] for the array of (serialized) individual item data, and SESSION[’order’] for the shipping data.
In this version, the user doesn’t need to be logged in, and will have to fill out their shipping/billing information with every order.

Very nice Susan, you’re cruising on this one... keep it up. Quite a powerful demonstration of what can be done in MODx with a bit of creativity!

Here’s the skeleton. Just the plugin, snippets, chunks, TVs used, and an INSTALL document.
The shipping and payment modules don’t do anything at this point (although the shipping modules can be used as-is for flat-rate shipping costs, just edit the variable in the beginning of the TV). It’s like I told my boys when they got old enough to do chores, I’m not about to do everything around here!
This is looking very much like what I had planned to do when "I got the time."
One suggestion I might make is to have the StartCartSession.plugin.php script do when an item is added, is to see if there is already an item of that ID in the cart. If so, then the quantity only can be updated, if not, the new item can be added to the array. I noticed this when I added several of the same thing to the cart (individually) and they all showed up on individual lines in the cart. I’d fix it myself but I don’t actually have it installed to test anywhere...

You are correct; this is a very much alpha version, just to get a simple working package. It will be getting refined, a couple of basic payment modules worked up, and a few other snippets added as well. I’m just a little worn out wrestling with the basic logic right now.
Well then maybe I’ll have to install a "testbed" version of MODx somewhere, roll up my sleeves, and start doing my part! Something tells me a testbed install would be a good idea to have around for just such instances

I’ve got four installations on my localhost, as well as my personal site which I use as a remote testbed so others can play with my toys too. Gets interesting when I forget which installation I’m working on at the moment!
