Heh. I originally built the AJAX editable data grid from an asp .NET tutorial. I was going to mention it in my article, but now I can’t find it again. If anybody happens to run across it, let me know and I’ll make nice with the attribution.

This is exactly what I had in mind when I first came up with the idea. I know my limitations, and this has already really stretched them. Please, please, people, take this and run with it. The potential is there, I tried to set up the skeleton of a real ecommerce system in a clean, modular fashion so that it would be easy to work with, and use the MODx system itself as much as possible. I think I succeeded in that much, anyway.

I would be interested in writing a few modules for this when I get chance, however I think that such a collaborative effort would work better if there was a subversion repository and a project manager to control the architecture and approve module designs.

I seem to recall rthrash offering in the past to someone a subversion repository (or branch) for their MODx code...

That’s a helluva good idea, Andy.

I can set up a SVN project for this in our current repository. Would be a good idea indeed, as it’s a pretty intense little bit of code with lots of dependencies, and this would force me into cleaning up lots of stuff that’s in need of cleaning up!

After 095 ships or the first RC thereof.

Is the version in the first post dated June 27th still the latest version? Has anything changed since then and where can I get the changes from?

I just used a TV with @EVAL return time(); but your snippet will work just as well.

Actually, I was having a bear of a time being able to reliably add multiple items to the cart (after hacking the code so as to differentiate the same items with different options). I thought it was my hacks that were the root of the problem, but I just couldn’t figure out where I’d gone wrong. It turns out that my product pages were cached and thus the token TV wasn’t changing consistently (so the plugin ignored those posts as if they were accidental double-clicks). Using an uncached snippet (e.g., [!timestamp!]) instead of the TV solved all my problems. Well, all the problems I’m working on at the moment anyway...

Is the step-by-step tutorial still available somewhere? I would like to get started with ShopX but I am affraid the brief summary in the README.TXT supplied with the ShopX files won’t do.

Not yet, no. A few of us are setting up live sites using ShopX and modifying/extending the code in the process. The next step should be pooling our resources and producing a new package with documentation, but I don’t think that will happen for at least another two or three weeks (a lot of energy is being put into the upcoming 0.95 release, and in my case I’m still working on two ShopX projects in which I’m changing the code a lot).

If you want to give it a shot in its current state, however, you are encouraged to do so. It does work as is, and I’d be happy to share new code that I have with you as well. You will need to write a few custom snippets and generally spend some time tweaking and testing, so don’t expect plug-and-play just yet.

If you don’t have the time, energy, or confidence to do that just now, just keep watching this forum and pretty soon there will be a new version available.

So is the version attached to the first post in this thread still the latest version? Is that the version everyone is using?

I understand that the priorities of you guys are different at the moment

I would *like* to give it a shot but as long as i have no clue as to how long it would take me to get something running it is too risky. This is due to the fact that I was considering to integrate it into a customers website. Without any documentation at all this would definately not work out as I probably wouldn’t be able to figure out how things work with my current experience (or at least not in a reasonable time frame).

I guess i will go check on other options. Thank you for your reply however and keep up the good work!
