Requirements MODx

Picked up a project for a client and would like to use revolution.

Under:
http://modx.com/revolution/developer/requirements/

are the requirements. Can I get away without the following modules for a basic site (no more than 50 pages, currently 10):

# Running as FastCGI
# zlib
# JSON
# cURL

although I find it hard to believe that they don’t have zlib by default :-0

I don’t want to use typo3 if I can avoid it ;-)

I’m fairly sure you will need those for Revolution to work properly. You should ask them to update their server.

I had a nasty feeling that would be the case. That is what I liked so much about MODx when I first started using it (0.9.5), if you had php and a database you were good to go.

I’ll see if I can get a phpinfo output from them. I doubt they are going to invest too much time updating things for my client who is paying less than 10 euro a month for their webspace and unlimited traffic, especially when the provider offer typo3 as part of another package.

You really should change the provider if they won’t be able to offer these options to a standard webspace.
Paying less than 5€/mth isn’t a point to don’t get these options. I’ve got many client sites on webspaces under 5€/mth running revolution properly (but not super-fast).

That is a decision that lies with the client. They will decide whether a change is feasible from their point of view, or if they prefer to stay put. I have no information as to how happy they are with the current provider.

In my mind T3 won’t run properly without these settings, too.

Thanks very much for the input novolo. I’ll try and find out what version of t3 they are using. Maybe I can use that as an argument.
