front-end user registration

Hi,

Does an easy way exists to allow new users to register themself in Modx revolution?
The idea is to show an form on the front-end with some basic fields and some extended fields and when the user submits the user is added to a certain usergroup in modx.
Is this possible in modx?

Is it possible to register a new user without activationlink, but user can’t be automatically activated in ModX. Admin users have to approve the user.
Is this possible?

PS: When I was testing with an activationlink, i’ve found a security leak. When you try register a user with an existing username (which hasn’t been activated yet), the new user will overwrite the existing one. It’s possible I did do something wrong here

Yes. Don’t send the user an activation email, send the admin a hook-based email that someone has signed up pending activation.

It’s not a security flaw - it’s deliberate. If a user is not active then their username is open to being recycled. Otherwise users might be caught out by not activating in time and having to register a different username for no other reason.
