hello all, newbie here first post.
I´ve just installed my Revo on my server. The transfer across on my FTP was a little shaky so i had to move it folder by folder. I´ve noticed now that all my default "system settings" are missing!
(I originally had them on my wamp local site)
does anyone know what files are missing?
Guess I’ll answer myself then.
Re-installed everything again as numerous errors kept happening. Went out for dinner and 4 hours later Filezilla was still chugging over uploading the files. Phew, hard work.
The system setting are created during the install, but if you’re missing those, who knows what else you’re missing. It’s not uncommon for FTP to skip or corrupt files. If you can, it’s better (and *way* faster) to transfer the .zip file and unzip it on the server.
I have the same problem when transferring files and often have to do it a couple of times.
@bobby, I understand about uploading the files via ftp in zip format and then extracting it on the server, however is there a way of backing up easily as my main problem is downloading the files from the server so that I have a backup before preforming the upgrade.

The
BkupMODx module works fine stand-alone with Revo; with one change to the code to point to the config file it can work as a CMP as well.
i tried to unzip on the server but the open button was greyed out. Can all servers unzip files? Do they have to be a special kind of zip?

If your server doesn’t have the PHP zip extensions you won’t be able to unzip the archive via the file manager. However, BkupMODx has its own zip library, so it can zip and unzip its backups. You can most likely upload the archive with your domain’s control panel (CPanel?) and extract it from there.
