Hello, I need to store a feed in a database and there are some characters that are not being added to the DB.
The character I need to store is £ symbol. For some reason only blob allows this to inserted in to the DB and if displaying the results on the page it shows as �
Can someone tell me how I should send characters like the £ symbol to a mysql database correctly. Unfortunately it’s showing as £ in the feed and not as the HTML code. I changed my DB field to varchar, text, blob etc and I just cannot get it. I also have the char-set to utf8_general_ci and the page that is being used to send the data to the DB uses this meta.

What am I doing wrong?
