Modx and a specific database functionality?

Hi I am very new here and with Modx. I am trying to figure out
if Modx is the solution for me.

I have a internet based travel agency specialised
in Italy.

I work with Css and Xhtml. No Php. One of the things I want is that, after
I imported the existing site in Modx, I can have a ’search’ functionality where
clients can search for houses on my site with certain key words like ’swimming pool’,
’Seaview’, ’Tuscany’ and etc. Hereby they get a listing of the houses with those keys.

Is that something available? Or must it be customly built? Is that difficult for someone with no knowledge of Php..

I am also a CSS type of guy. I do know some PHP, and this can be very helpful at times.

I think MODx can very easily handle what you’re describing. If you install Evo (MODx 1) with an example site, the search is already working in the stock template. You can make lots of documents organized in folders, and these will be searchable. You can also mark documents "not searchable" if you want. The search does not include words of 3 letters or less, which to me is sensible anyway.

Wayfinder, the menu application, can be pretty easily set up to show your documents in a menu, and with some CSS, you can make almost any kind of menu imaginable (I’ve done absolutely crazy menus with it).

Making templates in MODx is super easy. This is very important to me.

I haven’t used the search yet in Revo (MODx 2), but I have installed it, and I imagine it probably works fine, because the developer is one of the MODx gurus.

my future hard Modx effort wont be wasted. I’ll
give it a serious try.

Perhaps when I know my way around a bit I can bother you with
some more questions about how to implement a search functionality with filters.

turn to AjaxSearch. And hope it will not be to difficult for this Php illiterate
guy.
