How come when I download and install a template from System > Package Management, I don’t have any resources such as "home" in the way that the sample site gives me resources? OK, maybe that’s not the most pertinent question. The most pertinent question is, what do I have to do to insert this template into a new resource/web page?
Edit or create a resource -> in the first tab under ’Create/Edit’ resource you will find a new option under ’Templates’ of whatever template you installed using package management, eg ’Clarity’.
The template installs a collection of CSS, javascript(sometimes) and image files- analogous to a WordPress or other CMS theme - and adds one/more entries to the template list. You will need to hack it to do anything useful.
ie similar to having to download all the other packages to make the MODx Sample Site work (and possibly tweak them), you will now need to add in any logic or functionality (chunks/tvs/snippets etc) - all the template does is provide bare bones output in a specific skin.
