I created a chunk called sitename (<h2>sitename</h2>)to exp and learn. when i add [[sitename]] to a page it does nothing. I also tried {{sitename}} same result.
I have researched the web and am unable to find a remedy.

Two mistakes -- that should be:

Only if you use a chunk tag: [[$ChunkName]]. You were using a snippet tag.

In System -> System Settings. Put site_name in the search filter box at the upper right.
