Help Editing a Template

I have installed modx rev and everything is working fine. One thing I have not figured out is how to edit the non editable regions of the template. I am using TinyMCE so I can edit the page content. I have figured out the buttons and links. I want to edit the logo image and the side bar. I am using the modx Host template provided by modx. Can someone please point out the dir to the correct files or help me.

MODx uses the DB by default for everything in general except CSS and Images.

I do not have the Host template installed.

Look in Elements Templates for template.
Should find image path in code.
Side bar may also be there or in Chunk [[!$someChunkName]](also under Elements).

I have searched the web for help and have looked through the file structure. I am unable to locate the header and footer files/code. I thank you for your response but I need more help. I did take a look at the link you provided and was able to learn a couple of other things but not what i need to complete this project. Again i am using the modx sample site. I would be grateful for any help.

I think by "non-editable," you’re referring to the stuff represented by modx tags in the template. The ones you’re referring to are chunk tags: {{ChunkName}} or [[&ChunkName]] in MODx Revolution. They’re kept in the database and, in MODx Evolution, you can edit them by going to Elements->Manage Elements->Chunks and editing the one with the name you see in the tag. In Revolution, you’ll find them on the Element tab at the left of the Manager.
