New Install Cannot login

I have installed ModX (done so several times in the past for different sites)

but on this occasion I cannot Login

MySQL Version
MySQL Version 5.0.45
Perl Version
Perl 5.8.8
PHP Version
PHP 5.2.2
MODX VERSION : EVOLUTION 1.0.4

Even created new manager_user in the phpmyadmin added the admin permissions in user_attributes etc. set the password with MD5 but neither of both created users can login.

using the forgot password from the login page sends an email with a link

"A request has been made to change the password on your account. Click here to complete the process. From there you will be able to change your password from the My Account menu."

The only page that opens by clicking the link is the /manager login page. where it comes back with wrong username or password. anyone have an idea where i’m supposed to see this "My Account menu"

Hellup, utterly confused i’ve installed ModX 7 times (same version) in the last 3 weeks.

I have the exact same problem as above. Never had a problem before installing modx 1.03

Has anyone got a solution?!

The only thing I can think of is stale cookies or old js scripts in the browser cache. Have you completely cleared your browser cache and removed any cookies for that domain?

Have just wiped all cookies etc... and still same problem

I would at this point wipe it clean and re-install. I must say that while I hear of this from time to time, after more than five years and dozens of installations I’ve never had it happen myself.

ok will wipe and re-install. not holding much hope thou as this will be my 4th re-install

Ah. If you’ve already done that, then it’s time to get your hands on the site’s error logs and see what there is to see. Something is very wrong somewhere.

One other thing that comes to mind after a recent exchange here on the forums. Does your PHP have session.auto_start turned on?
