Can you not use ditto for that, create 2 tv’s ( artist and label ) and assign them to a blank template, then create a chunk calling in [+pagetitle+][+partist+][+label+] and call the chunk on the page you want it displayed via ditto ??
Or have I miss understood what you actually want ??
For that you are going to have to edit core files in the manager section and have a new database table as this sort of thing isn’t built into the core, again, you can use ditto for it and i would suggest that would be the way to go.
That’s a shame... I hate to have them add pages for something like this. Asking them to create a page for this feels a bit ’overkill’ if you know what I mean... I’m gonna go ahead and leave this [OPEN] for a lil’ while, maybe someone has a good approach for this issue...
Sharkbait’s method is definitely the most efficient and will separate the data from the view (a good thing). It kind of depends on how many pages there would be. If not too many, development would probably be much quicker if you created a front-end form (like NewsPublisher) where the user enters the information and the code creates the new page. If there will be a lot of them, you might want to take the time to use Sharkbait’s method and have the form put the data in a custom table (or use eForm and eForm2DB).
In MODx Revolution, I think you would have the best of both worlds with FormIt and a custom hook.
