I’m currently agonizing through the process of trying to get friendly urls to work on my site. I’m wondering if someone may be able to help me with a couple of the many questions I have.
My first question concerns the .htaccess file in the manager directory. Should I change anything from the default contents when trying to enable friendly urls? I only ask because I noticed that it says "RewriteEngine off". Should this be set to on?
Second, when I choose a page in the manager tree and preview it, will it appear in the browser as the friendly url if I’m doing things right? I ask this because, let’s say I’m trying to create a friendly url page at
http://mysite.com/mysitepage1.com. As it is now, I can access that page if I type that friendly url into my browser. However, if I access that page via the preview function in the manager, the page still appears as
http://mysite.com/index.php?id=2
