How to create a website with MODx in a test environment then how to put it live

Hi,

I’ve about to create a MODx website for the first time. My client has bought the domain and hosting and the domain is currently live. So if I create a MODx site in the hosting space it will be live straight away while I’m developing it.

So my question is:
How to I create a website with MODx on the clients hosting space, in a test environment (so I can send the client a URL to check the test site before going live) then how to put it live once I’ve completed it and the client signs off to go-live?

Is this a tricky thing to do?

so I can send the client a URL to check the test site..

You could just move the site off port 80 onto say 8080 or whatever, you and the client will know this and be able to see the site but casual browsers won’t. I’ve done this in the past. When finished just move the site back to port 80.
