    Hi everybody,

I am new to modx. For 3 months I used typo3 in internship. It is good, but I wanna try modx. wink

But I’ve still got a couple of questions.

    a) On a german website I read that modx only can handle 1.500 web pages and typo3 over 20.000 web pages.
    a. Is that true?
    b. Why is it so?

    b) I read that the cache mechanism of modx isn’t so good to handle large websites. It shouldn’t cope with more than 5.000 documents.
    a. Is that true?
    b. Why is it so?

    c) Is security is taken very seriously? For example for typo3 there is a typo3 security team.

    d) Is modx suitable / fast enough for large websites with 5.000, 10.000, 100.000 users a day?

    e) Is it possible to develop websites like Dailymotion.com, YouTube.com and so on?

    Best regards.

False. Evolution can handle 5000+ pages (I’m not sure the limit has been tested with recent improvements.) Revolution has no limit.

      See above.

Yes, MODx has had a security team as well. We have also responded very, very quickly to any security issues, often releasing patches in a few days or less than a week.

      d) Is modx suitable / fast enough for large websites with 5.000, 10.000, 100.000 users a day?
      Yes.

      e) Is it possible to develop websites like Dailymotion.com, YouTube.com and so on?
With some work, yes. Those sites have developers working full-time on them. tongue

        @splittingred: Thank you. wink

Someone from the foundation said in a forum that modx is good for small and middle websites. This means it is not good for large websites.

Sorry, but I can’t find the link.

          Hello studious,

People tend to think that tools never evolve.

And like splittingred has said :

Not to mention that the limit of Evolution is only available if you use the Resource by default. But you can bring your own cache system and never ever reach the limit of "Document (Resource)" wihtout even having to hack the core.
