I can’t find anyone else posting similar problem so must be doing something really dumb!
I’ve installed XAMPP - which seems quite happy and it’s PHP examples work on localhost
Am now trying to install modx - but if I open the index.php or any of the other .php files with browser I get garbled looking code and non-working links, so the PHP bit doesn’t seem to be working on my local machine.
Is there a set relationship required between the position of the XAMPP folder and the modx files?
Is there anything else I might be missing - OS is XP home so it doesn’t have IIS, but I thought instructions implied I only needed Apache and SQL.
EDIT: Aaargh - nevermind, hadn’t realised when it says run index.php - you have to do it from localhost/index.php
probably something blindingly obvious if you’ve used server before...... just not for me....
