"Cannot modify header information" when accessing Manager for the first time

This is the first time I ever installed modx in an external server (managed to install it on my laptop with no problem at all), and I just ran into this problem:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at D:\vhosts\SYSTEMGESTIONA.COM\httpdocs\manager\includes\lang\spanish-utf8.inc.php:1) in D:\vhosts\SYSTEMGESTIONA.COM\httpdocs\manager\index.php on line 168

This appears from the first time I enter the Manager, thus blocking me the access to it.

Anyone can help, plz?

Just for the sake of information: the spanish_utf8 file is in utf8 (yeah, i checked), and there’s no whitespace at the end of neither file.

OK, I managed to avoid this problem just commenting the offending line (168) on index.php, the one that says

//header(’Content-Type: text/html; charset=’.$modx_manager_charset);

Thing is, now the manager appears in english, and my client doesn’t speak it as good as I do.

At least the website is working, but...

I believe it is failing on the first character of the spanish-utf8.inc.php language file.

Try deleting and re-typing the opening and closing PHP tags.

i am new to modx but i had the following warning when i tried to get int the management but i could not because of:

That was a major headache for me since i was following modXhost explanations and also forums explanations how to setup modxcms...

Searching the forums i came to this tread and ... well i commented the nasty line and got to an english manager.

In the configuration it is posible to change to spanish, what i did, seemed to be right until the words needed accents... everything afterwards including the accents disapeared.

changed back to spanish-utf8 and tried cyclissmos tip and retyped the first line with the editor but still the manager will not show.

I asked myself what is different between spanish.inc and spanish-utf8.inc and here is the picture... taken with FreeDiff

there is some ï>>¿ before the <?php unbelivable.

my editor notepad2 does not delete it, nor does the Wind**s editor but i think DOS can. I will try the old "edit" which sees the first binary crap, see second picture.


It works perfectly after saving!

This is the dreaded "BOM" marker that most editors put at the beginning of any Unicode file. Hopefully your editor of choice can be configured to NOT put this in the file. It actually serves no purpose with UTF-8.
