Did your manager backend look like that when you first installed MODx or did you mske changes and then it became unformatted?

I just reinstalled and it’s still the same. This time, when it took me to a configuration page after install, I changed the base directory because it wasn’t right. I thought maybe the problem had to do with me installing MODx in a "modx" folder on my site instead of in the site root, but the change didn’t make any difference. Still looks and functions exactly the same as before. I’ll try deleting it all and re-downloading MODx. Any other suggestions/instructions would be welcome! Thanks.

Check on firebug if you can, you’ll see on the network tab the files that are not loaded (in red), and where the location from where it tried to load them.
Finally got it working...had to re-download MODx, then reinstall a couple times...I had been using cyberduck to install via FTP. I tried uploading it via Dreamweaver just to see what would happen and it worked. So maybe my FTP program was doing something weird to the files. I don’t know, but I’m glad it works. Thanks everyone for your replies!
