Hi all,
I have Revolution 2.0 beta4 on my localhost and am trying to upgrade to beta5. But when I run setup, it won’t allow me to select the "upgrade existing install" option. I can’t select anything but the "new Installation" button. Any assistance here would be really helpful!

It must be able to find the original config file from the beta4 install to enable upgrade. This should be in core/config/ and by default is called config.inc.php.
Yeesh, I was really hoping for something more enlightening than that. Is there some sort of tutorial or something I can check out that explains this process?
For most people, that config file is in place and the upgrade install works fine.
Can you think of any reason why yours would be missing?
The only way I could get the upgrade to detect this file was to copy it into the beta5 directory. Then it seemed to upgrade, but when it was all done and upgraded I couldn’t sign in to the manager.
I tried clearing caches and changing the localhost entry in the sql database (as was suggested to someone else who posted a message about not being able to sign in after upgrading from 4 to 5,) but no deal.
So I guess the solution so far is to dump everything and just start again, which is no big deal since I’m just playing around with it at this point. However, this experience does make me shudder at the prospect of encountering these problems while trying to upgrade a ’live’ site that I can’t just flush away when things go awry.

Thanks for that info! My confusion was where exactly to place the beta5 directory in relation to the beta4. I couldn’t find anything that addressed how to do this. For my further edification, is this how upgrades are routinely executed in Modx - just extract the new over the old?
