Sorry, a user with that email already exists.

Iam running MODX 1.0.1 with WebloginPE 1.3.1
User email addresses have to be unique for each user or you get the new registration message
’Sorry, a user with that email already exists. You can not use that email again.’
Problem - my users often share email addresses with other members of their family, but not MODX web usernames or passwords.

Is there any way to circumvent this and allow more than one user have the same email address?

Some time ago I do recall seeing a post on this subject, but now can find nothing in the forums & documentation.

You would have to hack the assets/snippets/webloginpe/webloginpe.class.php file, and comment out lines 554-560 (that’s the code block that checks for duplicate emails).

If you’re adding users from the Manager web user management page, you need to comment out lines 89-102 of the manager/processors/save_web_user.processor.php file.

When using the default weblogin snippets, edit assets/snippets/weblogin/websignup.inc.php and comment out lines 72-85.
