Is it possible to have a job board setup with available MODx tools. Off my head, these would be the requirements and corresponding MODx tools and a few customisations.
User management - WebloginPE with some customisations
Job listings
- Each job is a document with content items as TVs(for job postings by recruiters). Documents are modified by their authors/recruiters.
- Some features such as notification can be done via a snippet
- Attached documents can also be done as TVs or custom snippets
- Actual listing achieved by Ditto(maybe?)
- Categorisation(by industry) will be done by creating parent-child relationship amongst documents
This is before considering how well it will scale.
How feasible is this and is it good for scalability?
Can be done...but, remember the talk with OpenGeek? If there’s going to be lots of resources, then you are better of with custom tables. You can create your views from this. As for the backend management, I would go with a module. This is the strategy I will be adopting. Just my 2p...

Presumably you want to allow people to sign up on the site and post jobs?
If you plan on having more than a few thousand jobs at any one time then you should use your own db tables and create administration form(s) on the front end to interact with your tables. Your form (and the other views in your application)can be modx documents and snippets can be used for the control logic. You might choose to write a custom uri parser /jobs/show/latest/ or simply use query strings /jobs/?show=latest in your snippets.
You can use webloginpe for registering and authenticating users who want to post jobs (i.e. access your admin forms).
