Switching from a development version to live site

Hi, I appreciate any insight anyone can offer on this:

We have been working on a development version of a site using modx with a dev. domain. We are about to switch the DNS for the old website (http://bimagazine.org) to the new site built in modx (http://dev.bimagazine.org).

Currently, dev. is on a different server; I just want to be certain when we switch the DNS that the new site still works and I can still log into the manager without the dev. (eg, http://bimagazine.com/manager/ rather than http://dev.bimagazine.org); the doc root is /var/www/bimagazine.org/ as is the File Manager Path.

Is there anything else I need to know to put this live to ensure I will still be able to log in and access everything and retain all of the data?

This should be it. Though you will need to clear the cache after the switch so urls gets regenrated.

Thanks much, although I do have one other question: if I need to reset the base url that I set up at install, where would I do that? When I installed, I used dev.bimagazine.org as the base url; host has told me that domain will still resolve, but once dns is switched I would want to set it to bimagazine.org. I could not locate a setting in the manager to do so; is there a file to edit to adjust this once the move is complete?

you set the base url like this in your template:


when the site url changes, the base url changes too...after you clear the MODx-cache in your manager:
"Site" -> "Clear Cache"
