Newbie - advice on forum and blog to integrate with MODx site

I’m evaluating MODx (enjoying it so far!), and looking for the best way to set up an integrated forum (v important) and blog (secondary) on my MODx site. I was going to go for phpBB and WordPress but I’m not sure if this is the right way...

I want the forum and BB to match my theme, or at least not clash too much. I see that SMF is now integrated with MODx, would this be a good way to go? I’m not particularly tied to either phpBB or WP: aesthetics, functionality, ease of management are more important to me.
