MAMP installtion problem

    Hi Guys,

    Iā€™m a complete ModX newbie trying to follow the instructions inthe MODx Web Development book. I am working on a mac and am having problems installing ModX. When I go to http://localhost/learningMODx/ a message appears saying the link appears to be broken.

    I have attached a screenshot showing my file structure etc.

      Are you sure the Apache and MySQL servers are running?

      Are you using the default Apache and MySQL ports, or did you leave the MAMP configuration using its own ports? If you left MAMP to use its own ports you need to add the port to the address
      http://localhost:8888/learningMODx/

      Did you put the files from the MODx archive into Applications/MAMP/htdocs, or did you assign a different folder for your web root?

        As Susan said it does depend on your Apache port number.
        If you set it to 80 try :
        http://localhost/learningMODx/modx1/
        Otherwise try :
        http://localhost:8888/learningMODx/modx1/
