Couple Permssion Questions

Hello, I’m trying to give permissions to an admin account that would allow a particular admin to edit a given set of pages within a parent. I know how to setup the manager permissions but the admin can edit the parent document as well which I am trying to stop.

I want to allow the user to edit the 2 child docs which I set to the admin group but if you do not allocate the parent to that admin group, the child docs do not show up in the doc tree. If you allocate the parent to the admin group then the admin can now edit that document as well, which I don’t want. How can you get around that?

Also I am using a plugin for these child docs and I want the plugin to only fire on these pages. I would normally use the follow if statement to only work on a given document but can I allow this to work for all documents within a parent?

There is a Config setting in manager to show protected pages in tree and that way being able to reach to child documents.
Then I use a "hidden from menu" parent container anyway: page-title "Create document here" with alias e.g. /list01/,
so that child documents inherit settings.

I haven’t found another way of restricting it other than hide the tree and use a custom home page
inside manager where I link the editor to manager actions. This described in the wiki "customize the manager"...

Thanks for that, yeah seems like that’s the only way to get that to work but it might be a bit confusing to someone that there are 150 docs there and only 2 are editable to them. I will just have to tell them not to touch the parent under any circumstances.

How about the if statement? Do you have any idea how to allow this to fire up only under a certain parent?

A plugin should work fine though the parent documents will be static and not dynamically created! = You can manually set it.

But I bet there is some hack to let editor create childdocument under a locked parent...

I know how to manually set the child doc IDs for the plugin to take effect under but I am wanting this to be dynamic. I would like all child docs under this parent ID to use the plugin but I have yet to figure this out. Unfortunately the search function is taking me to a lot of unfound pages!

If using ManagerManager and then storing a default value in a hidden field!!

I want to give permission to an admin to post new documents in a parent... then they can use quickmanager in the front end which uses a plugin to give them editing abilities. Rather than the plugin showing up on all pages, even though it will say they can not edit this page, I don’t want that. I want the edit buttons to appear only in the child docs of a parent so it’s that admins own work area. Hope that makes sense!
