absolute beginner questions

hello,
i have installed MODx and i have found it to be the most flexible and to a point the easiest CMS that i have tried.
i do have a couple of problems which i hope you can help me with.

i am not adept at coding or building websites from scratch but i have some experience with scripts such as wordpress and SMF. i now want to build a website that has more flexibility and have settled with MODx after many trial installations of other CMS/ CMF scripts.

i installed the sample site with the MODx installation and i have been editing it to suit my needs.
i have figured out pretty much the basics of what i need to do to edit templates and content. however i cannot find a way to edit [(site_name)] , now, common sense says that the answer to such a basic question would be in the documentation, but the documentation seems to be scattered in different places. some of the documentation is for different versions.

am i overlooking something?

also if i am going to have to ask the community for help with basic procedures then should i install the MODx revolution. thinking that if i am learning from scratch that i might as well learn the latest version as have to learn it at a later date when it is officially released.

You’ll find the site-name setting at the top of the Tools > Configuration > Site page.

Revolution is still in beta, and doesn’t yet have its own version of some of the commonly-used snippets. I would recommend learning your way around with the current version of Evolution (0.9.6.3), as there’s so much of other people’s existing experience available here in the forums, in the Wiki and elsewhere to help you on your way.

The final version of Evolution is at release candidate stage, and continuing support for it is promised. I’m sure there will be plenty of guidance available on converting to Revolution in due course if you choose to do that.

Whichever way you go, I’m sure you’ll be glad you found MODx!
