There is no doubt about it, Modx is fast, easy to install and from what I can see from demo sites - very capable.

    but

After 2 days I still can’t get my head around how to customise it the way I want. I had Joomla and Wordpress configured and modified and running in a couple of hours. Joomla is by no means a straight forward system, but gee - want a new look, just upload a template and select it. Adsense? - no problem .. choose between a few plugins.

Obviously I am missing something here, but so far Modx is seemingly too difficult for me - maybe I’m just stupid.

Actually I don’t think I’m stupid, I’ve built websites from notepad way back before there were any HTML editors and PINE in a terminal window was the way to go for email ....woops, showing my age!

OK, real question. Where is the area that controls what elements are added and removed from the website? I want to remove the User Login, as I won’t have any user editing, I want to add my Adsense and remove the "News"

    Seems simple, please help

    Thanks

Thanks for the prompt responses. I’ve been to Bob’s but not the other, I’ve been shown the light in a previous post on how to remove the User Login.

I’m slowing resolving it now - elements are defined within the Manage Elements area and manually inserted by editing the template code. No more Joomla "Space Invaders" point and shoot editing!

Adsense code will normally go in the Template if it’s in the same place on every page that use the template.

If not, it can go in a Template Variable created with the default value set to the adsense code. Then it can be placed anywhere in the Content field using a TV tag:

              [*tvName*]
