Microsite with different domain?

I’m sure this can be done but after spending the last 30 min - hour looking on the forums decided it would be best to ask.

I have a client who wants a microsite with a different domain. The main site is already up using modx and I want to have the content be off that same install if possible but not sure how I would do this so the microsite uses its domain instead of the primary domain. Does that make sense? Any help would be much appreciated.

Not really a ModX deal I would think? If I’m correct I believe you can get your host to map a domain to any URL you’d like (e.g. domain.com/microsite/) and have it behave like a new URL.... not really sure though

I actually figured out a way to do this with subsites the MAD [HACK] http://modxcms.com/extras/package/433 and a plugin script executed OnWebPageInit where domain1.com is the "subsite/microsite." For the addon I configured 4 "subsites" with 2 for each domain (www and nonwww). Works great! Hopefully next version of Modx will handle this better.

$domain2 = 'www.domain1.com';

  $s = $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'];
   if($s==$domain1 && $modx->documentIdentifier==$modx->config['site_start']){
      header('Location: NEWPAGE.html');
      exit;
   }
   else if($s==$domain2 && $modx->documentIdentifier==$modx->config['site_start']){
      header('Location: NEWPAGE.html');
      exit;
   }

Good to hear! Is Evolution and Revolution going to merge at some point or is the intent to continue with 2 separate branches?

Nope. These 2 are totally different code bases.
