Rewrite URLs issue with Apache Server

i just checked, the plugin works with the current release 0.9.6.3

Thanks very much for your help. I just installed the plug in, and it won’t serve my pages for some reason. Not sure why that is, so investigating. After I installed I clicked on the preview button on a page and it serves the clean URL, however, when I go into edit the page then it won’t serve when I save it again...Gives me URLs like this:

http://www.whostolethesoul.co.uk/3

If anyone out there can shed any light I’d be most grateful!

mmmm, seems to be working but only when page is published and I select base name from the drop down box on the seoOverride options. If this is the case, might I just remove the other options so this one becomes the default?

Update - seems to render the page perfectly with only this URL, why my site crawler won’t crawl it is another issue...Might just have to wait and see how Google treats the page..

i’ve set up my configuration for e.g. like this:

tools -> configuration -> Friendly URLs:

Prefix for friendly URLs: leave it blank

Suffix for friendly URLs: .html

Use friendly aliases: yes

Use friendly alias path: yes

Allow duplicate aliases: no

when you edit your document, give it a useful/meaningful aliasname (this is also important for google), separate words in the aliasname with an - not with _
If you use "friendly alias path" it makes your URL look like this: www.yourdomain.com/firstlevelalias/secondlevelalias.html

Hi, thanks again for your input, I appreciate it. Everything seems to be working fine now, I have personally decided to leave the alias field blank when I produce copy so that the page title (<title>) and URL are the same on each page as it’s good for SEO (also my H1 tag will be the same if not very similar in the long title box, inputted manually!). So when I write the page title it automatically populates the Alias field and creates my URL which is marvellous as it is also automatically puts in my dashes as well! Will have to wait for Google to crawl the site and see what happens with regards to indexation but I have a feeling that it will be fine now and that the crawler I’ve been using is at fault for not picking them up. These are my current settings:

Use Friendly URLs - Yes
Prefix for friendly URLs - Blank
Suffix for friendly URLs - Blank
Use friendly aliases - No
Use friendly alias path - No
Allow duplicate aliases - No
Automatically generate alias: Yes

Now it’s time to take a look at these snippets and stuff...I’m a novice developer so may take some time
