Hello,
Just installed MODx to experiment a bit.
Installation went well, all OK’s.
But ....
When I login I get the warning that the config.inc.php is still writeable.
I already changed it to read-only through myftp-prog: FileZilla (When I’m not logged in MODx)
But every time I re-check the document its setting have been changed to read + write again.
It seems to me FileZilla is the one doing this, but I could be wrong.
Downloaded the file, uploaded again, changed its settings again.
Re-check: changed to read + write again
Changed setings to read-only (without re-checking)
Login in MODx
> warning its still writeable...
Anybody any tips on what I’m doing wrong here ?

Is this also the first time you use FileZilla?
There is a "File Permissions..." icon in the right-click box, isn’t it?
I set my attributes (in Numeric Value) 644
We are talking about the same file, aren’t we?

Your hosting service may not allow permission changes via FTP. If you have cPanel (some something similar) you can change the permissions in the File manager.
