Newbie question about site redesign/transition to MODx

I’m just in the phase of installing and learning MODx, and so far, I’m very excited about the possibilities and think this is the perfect choice for our site.

I manage a largish site for a non-profit (a couple thousand pages) and I’m about to start a redesign. I want to put the main structure of the site into MODx, but I have several subsections that need to remain intact that were built in Coldfusion that I just need to link to. Is it possible to link to other types of content, or does everything need to be managed within MODx?

Thanks in advance. I’m pouring through all the online documentation, and so far, it’s helping me test this quite a bit.

You don’t need to manage everything in MODX. You can link to the folder in question and everything should work normally. If a folder exists using the same name as a document it will take priority.
