Do you have the MODx index.php in the root directory? If you do have all the files then it may be that your server is not setup to look for index.php so it will show the directory index if there is no index.html file. Try accessing via the full url: your host name/index.php?id=1
it may be that your server is not setup....
If it is your server you’ll need to set something like this to tell your web server that files ending in .php are to be interpreted, this is from a linux/apache setup in the php.conf file :-

#
AddHandler php5-script .php .html .htm
AddType text/html .php
Windows will be different, ask your service provider or google.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!
