I have a website project that requires the following. I have made effort to know of the available resources/extra’s that may do what I require. I thought it would help other people who may have similar projects and want a one stop place to learn from (like a case study)

(Maxigallery- i am still trying to understand it and have hit a brick wall. I am still trying to display a slideshow. I have already posted in the relevant forum, hope I solve my challenge. I also need to display some icons of latest pictures in the gallery on the homepage, if Maxigallery can do that. How do I do it?)

(Ditto - I am currently reading on Ditto and understand the implementation is straightforward. Will read on it and post links or threads that have been helpful to me. I am also interested in being able to archive news and display "teasers" of the news on the home page. How do I do this?)
-document/file publishing and archiving
(I would like to upload documents. PDF files, in particular. I would like the home page to display the (N number of) recently added pdf files. Would also like to archive them. How do I do this?)
I will also try to be helpful by updating the thread on how I achieved what. Not meaning to undermine any existing information dedicated to any one of my problems.
If anyone can point out it would really help.
I think tutorials with Case Studies for applications like Ecommerce,News Publishing etc will help a lot.
